The Appendectomy

Another month, another hospital visit. Today my wife is getting her appendix removed. It is stirring up sorts of emotions inside me. I'm very proud of my brave wife as I know how much I personally would be freaked out.

She was a bit nervous as we had the anesthesiologist explain details prior to her surgery. I'm currently hanging in the hospital waiting room trying to relax.

Going under anesthesia is never easy. I realized I've been fortunate enough in my life to avoid ever going under. I also realize how extremely lucky I've been with my health. I try hard to take care of myself, but sometimes things do happen. No matter how well you take care of yourself, things can happen.

Now I've seen two other patients finish before my wife and it makes my mind go crazy. I know she is fine though as it's just an appendix. I will be happy to leave the hospital and not hear another pager beep and vibrate uncontrollably. I love you Mrs. Lessinges.

According to the tee vee shows of my youth, after getting an appendectomy the first course of action after getting out of the hospital is to get ice cream. Wait that’s for tonsillitis. Still ice cream is always good.

I wish I was better at appreciating how good I have it without experiencing a scary event. May your skills be better than mine. I hope Mrs. Lessinges feels whole again soon :-) .

Aw, I’m sorry Egan. I hope that clears up the mysterious stomach issues once and for all. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.

Best to your wife for an easy recovery. Take care of each other, as I know you always do.

That’s so sweet to worry about her. Sometimes we freak out more when our loved ones have something done as opposed to ourselves. Hope she is doing well now. Happy belated Thanksgiving to you and your family!

God, i was a wreck waiting for my husband to come out of his knee surgery. I was even mean to the little old volunteer woman who kept offering me coffee.
    News?

Kirk – truer words have never been spoken. Ice cream is always an acceptable remedy.
Bob – thanks man, she is doing well so far. Sometimes it takes something like this to realize how good we do have it. It has been a bit of a wake up call about my own health hence why I bought Wii Fit Plus.
Sprizee – thanks very much. It’s still too early to tell if this did the trick. We’ll learn more this week on her return visit to the doctor.
Justrun – thank you kindly. She had a great mommy/daughter weekend since I was out of town. The recovery seems to be going well so far.
SM – thanks for the kind sentiments. Those thoughts sent our way seem to be working.
Andhari – thanks for the nice comment and for visiting. I know, I’m not a fan of knives in general so if someone is going to slice me open… I get freaked out. I’ve never been put under yet. Phew.
JLee – you totally nailed this one. I’m so impressed by her courage. She rarely thought about the appendectomy before it happened and two weeks later you would hardly know it happened. Best wishes for you and your family as well during the holidays.
Meno – there is no significant news to report as of yet. She has her 2 week follow-up visit this week. Then we can find out of more. There doesn’t seem to be any associated pains at this point in time.
This New Place – ha, this comment brought a smile to my face. I think my wife is much more equipped to deal with this sort of thing. I’m a wimp when it comes to pain. Thanks for keeping track.
